Construction update

The house addition is well underway, with the carpentry work being done now on the interior.  Today the electrician is wiring the basement.  Completion date for the addition is December 15; then I will begin expanding the railway with the hope that the first train will run over the enlarged layout by September 1, 2018.  The addition will provide 17' x 23' of railway layout space (including a crew lounge), so I expect the main line to expand by 160' (in addition to the current 260' main line), and a new terminal in Millville will be added.  So the main line will be 420+ feet long.

The McMullin house is a construction scene; a new addition at the rear will provide for a den (future bedroom), a full bathroom/laundry room, and a craft room on the main floor.  The basement level will provide lots of additional room for the Carleton Railway, and the laundry facilities will no longer be in the basement.  The main line will expand from 260' to more than 400', a new terminal yard (Millville) will be added, and there will be room for a good-sized crew lounge.  The current Millville yard will become the new Hawkins Corner.  New, long passing sidings will be added at Clarkville and Rosedale.  I am hoping the mainline will be completed by September 2018.
